Jingle Jams!
Are you hosting this holiday season? Don’t forget to give some thought to your playlist.
After all, excellent music can take a party from good to great. With a bit of behind-the-scenes planning, you can strategically use your playlist to set the right mood for any soirée.
Here are just a few tips to help you find the perfect festive, jazzy tunes:
Consider Your Atmosphere
Are you hosting a large cocktail party? Your event can probably stand up to jazzier music featuring lyrics and/or faster beats.
Looking to keep your gathering intimate and cozy? Go for instrumental songs that are quieter, softer, and calmer in both tempo and lyrics.
Think Theme
Nostalgic, vintage vibes are extremely trendy for the holidays this year. Even better: Classic holiday music is easy to find and perfect for quickly making your theme clear. Whip up a tray of martinis, bring out your hot pink Christmas tree, and throw on the original “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt… maybe even on vinyl?
Curate For Your Crowd
If you’re hosting folks of all ages, think about mixing in some oldies alongside modern hits. That way, everyone on your guest list will recognize a tune they enjoy, helping to make them feel welcomed and included.
Or perhaps you’re gathering your girls for a “Favorite Things” party this year. There’s only one way to go with your playlist for this fête: Festive hits by women! (We’re thinking lots of Mariah Carey – AKA the Queen of Christmas, obvs.)
Maybe you’re even hosting coworkers this season – in that case, we suggest festive jazz or other low-key tunes that allow conversation to flow.
